Untitled for Others 2 - Getting Up

Alarm bells ring. Alarm, please don’t ring.

Another day, another fray into which we stumble.

5.20 goodbye world, self-absorption kicks in

Focus on us. Swap Westminster for Bangladesh or Beijing.

Maritime and Coastguard Beaufort Scale.

Force 8 is expected in Viking and Dogger.

South, 5 to 7, occasionally 4 but 8 later. Good.

Beyond the duvet, the sailor’s life but a saltwater fairy tale.

Rise to the challenge? Time to rise?

Gut-wrenching newspaper headlines crush the intellect.

Magnify hope, stumble and mumble soft prayers.

Gnarled farmer laments a U-turn to help subsidise.

And all that remains is the daily tweet of the wildfowl

Or the longing hoot of the lonesome night owl.

Darkness tiptoes away and one last beep

It’s 6. Good Morning. I wish I were still asleep.
