A Month in Autumn - 08
Life is Fashion
Spring/Summer fades to a distant memory.
The biggest month in fashion is about to land,
September – when the world reinvents itself
And what was ‘so now’ is ‘now so then’ with a mere sleight of hand.
The copies of Vogue are weighed by the pound
Boasting the number of glossy pages and highest sales.
There is silk and chiffon, denim, velvet and bamboo,
Dots and squares, tartan and checks courtesy of the Prince of Wales.
Who will grace the September cover, pouting?
The models they strut and the press they clamour
For shots of size eights and fit young things
In unwearable outfits and skyscraper heels, all in the name of glamour.
Children all have their ‘back to school’ wear
And adults have a clean slate in September the same,
So, they can refresh the wardrobe and feel a new person
And spend lots of money on tailored shorts or whatever is the latest con game.
Fashion of fun. Fashion is diverting.
And is doesn’t matter if you wear haute couture or whacky.
Black is the new black. Double denim is so dead.
And ‘Trendy is the last stage before Tacky’.
Karl should know.
