Gorgons V

Gorgons V

Durnovaria, fine homes for rich families.
Tessellate the mosaic to remind you of home
Warmer days and wine jugs pouring.
Small chips of colour that bring Rome right to your door,
Pictures of brave gods that look up from your floor.

Durnovaria, on the edge of the Celtic Fields.
Map out the aqueduct to bring civilisation home
Crystal cold and water jugs splashing.
Small drops of rainbow that bring Rome right to your house,
Scenes of bath-time rituals the rich come to souse.

Durnovaria, superior town house out Colliton way.
Ornamental antefix to roof your lovely home
Anthemion frond, terracotta jug firing.
Small flowers and faces that bring Romans to your villa,
Centurians, Satyrs, Gorgons, Nyphs or Scylla.

This antefix protects your house with snakes
that swirl above the forehead
of the red clay face of the gorgon.
In winter it shivers and in summer it bakes
but fills enemies with anticipated dread,
a silent scream, pain within, anguish in every organ.
Do not look her in the eyes
or everlasting stone will paralyse.

Pussycat Party

Pussycat Party

It’s our Birthday, Happy returns all round.
It’s our Birthday, presents and treats surround.
You’re invited, yes of course            ,
Provided you aren’t a dark horse,
Or a dog.

It’s our Birthday, today we are nine.
It’s our Birthday, on the sofa we recline.
Kippers and sardines both welcome here,
But you had better disappear
If you’re a dog.

It’s our Birthday, we look our best today.
It’s our Birthday, a bowl of cream on a tray.
Birds of a feather received with a smile,
And we’ll play and tease the mice for a while
But not a dog.

Happy Birthday to us, Happy Birthday all day.
Come on in, guests invited and gatecrasher stray.
We’ve have such fun, it’s been a blast.
Oh no, we’ve just realised, too late at last
You’re a dog.

A third of the way through

Whilst Linda is busy writing the poems the rest of the team are planning and preparing the three collections of poems that will be published at the end of the month through our new store.  This has been an exciting project for us all and the beginning of a very busy period for us with new books planned.
Our new poetry compilations.
We are particularly pleased that Jeff Gagliardi gave us permission to use his Etch a Sketch Art on the cover of Join the Dots.  Jeff's work can be seen at Jeffsketch.com.

The books will be ready to download from May 1st 2013 so please visit the store to download your copies.
