A Month in Autumn - 05
Song for September
So many songs for September.
A change of weather, a change of heart,
Questioning the future, preparing to depart?
Frank smiling gently as he nears September,
The warm September of his years,
A metaphor for growing old he volunteers.
Maybe September love will come again,
Smooth Tony croons to find a wife.
Round it goes, the eternal circle of life.
Reminisce over September in the rain,
As Dinah’s velvet vocals signal a change.
Rainstorms forecast it is time to rearrange.
Wistful September brings introspection
And Kurt writes how the days grow short
When you reach September, a last resort?
September – a time for reflection, ageing, hibernation,
The autumn of your life. Still time for re-evaluation.
And the days dwindle down, to a precious few, September.
