A Month in Autumn - 04
Deep Blue
September.
And on the finger he puts a ring.
The deepest, deepest hue,
Vivid, fierce eye-watering blue.
Gin clear, intense regal demeanour
Purest of blue, resplendent, the soul of a dreamer.
What riddle it sets, what code to crack or conundrum,
This jewel of the heavens, the guardian corundum?
A bestower of truth, our precious signs our desire,
Recal the beauty of their form was like sapphire.
She twirls the ring round and round circling the fourth finger
Easily combining two lives, distracted she’ll linger.
Beautiful, beautiful curved stone,
September’s birthstone.
