“Stop? Coffee maybe? Definitely a comfort break!” Julie said,
pulling a face and breaking the silence.
Pat was relieved to hear Julie speak. The lack of conversation
had made her feel like some unsaid vow of silence was hanging over them and it
felt like the barrier was getting bigger. Pat had even stifled a sneeze to
ensure that the moment was not broken. But now Julie had broken the silence and
the ice.
“Me too!” laughed Pat, pretending to wriggle in discomfort.
