Newspaper curls on the dried grass.
Empty crisp packet floats across the path.
Small brown dachshund on an erratic mission drags his owner
Across the park.
He’s noticed her before at the café.
The two dogs circle each other.
Small brown dachshund decides to give way, size matters.
In the park.
The couple smile and flirt along the path.
One chases a wet tennis ball.
The other is alert, waiting for the move, on edge.
At the park.
School is out, children mass near the gate.
The owners nervously and clumsily part.
Small brown dachshund watches the friends part
I’ll be back he thinks – tomorrow in the park.
