Round the Table

The Round Table has no head but the Once and Future King presides.
Lancelot, Percival, Bors and Gawain,
Sir Bedivere and Galahad.
The Round Table makes everyone equal but the Once and Future King decides.
We will not harm or kill them.
We will dispense mercy where we may.
We support and offer goodwill
To gentles and those who pray.
We will never commit a treason,
Or take up a wrongful quarrel.
We will always apportion reason
And do the thing that’s moral.
But even round the Table of fairness, justice and the law
Inside the Knights deceit and duplicity begins to gnaw.
And knight betrayed day for nobody is perfect
And the dreams that were once and forever hoped were wrecked.
But the memory lingers of legendary bravery and desire,
And the men who fought for their god, country and their sire.
