Today we celebrate the patron saint of Ireland.
He brought Christianity to Ireland and is
believed to have died on 17th March in AD 461 (different people say slightly different years but hey - somewhere around 461 anywhere between 460 to 493). It was
designated a religious feast day after the Vatican officially recognised
the date in 1631. Legend says St. Patrick taught the Irish about the doctrine of the Holy Trinity by showing people the three leaves of the Shamrock.
So to Irish friends everywhere - have a great day.
(ps I'm a quarter Irish, Scottish, Welsh and English so get the best of all worlds in celebrating UK saints!!)
