You could never be neutral about Margaret Hilda.
People were partisan, applauded or berated her.
You had to be partisan about the Kesteven Baroness.
When people remember they are either angry or proud
Like the vote on Marmite, you loathe it or it pleases the crowd.
Whatever you view, whatever your stance
There was passion on opposing points of view
And tears of relief or sadness at the coup.
She said, ‘Being Prime Minister is a lonely job’
And it seems that even she knew, whatever her mettle
That iron alone is really a very soft metal.
