Gorgons III – the other two Gorgons are in our previous poetry books – this completes the set – it’s my love of Versace that drew me to the Head of the Gorgon!
Gorgons III
Imagine
being a Gorgon,
Perfection
in every thing you do,
But you’re
getting rather fed up
‘Cos you
never meet anyone new.
You have the
perfect bone structure
And a body
with shapely curves
But you’ve
only got your sisters
And they are
getting on your nerves.
Imagine being
a Gorgon
And you want
to go out on a date,
But the ugly
sisters warn you
That you’re
going to have to wait.
Fit young
athletes prostrate before you
And you’d
like to take one home
But the
minute their eyes adore you
The kouros
turns to stone.
Imagine being
a Gorgon
So
frighteningly sublime
With perfect
nails like talons
That long to
turn to crime.
Imagine
being a Gorgon
Flawless in
every way
But when you
wake up lonely
It’s just
another bad-hair -day.
